Volunteer Guide

New to being a Hunters Woods PTA volunteer and have questions about how things work? Read below for helpful information and tips.

📣 PTA Communication Channels

â–¶ Emails
  • Weekly eNews: The PTA weekly eNews is sent via email every Wednesday morning. Users can subscribe at any time. To include your event in the eNews, send details to the VP of Communications by Sunday.
  • One-Off Emails: For urgent topics, contact the VP of Communications as soon as possible.
  • Room Parent Emails: Room parents will periodically share school-wide, PTA, and classroom information.

â–¶ Thursday Folder Flyers

The PTA often sends event flyers home in students’ weekly Thursday folders. If your committee is organizing an event, consider sending a flyer this way.

Send the draft flyer to the VP of Communications by the Friday before you'd like it to go home. This allows time for administrative approval and copying for all classrooms.

Flyers must include: "These materials are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Fairfax County School Board, the Superintendent, or this school."

â–¶ Morning News Show

Upcoming events can be featured on the morning news show that students see daily.

Provide the VP of Communications a short description and any graphics at least one week before the event.

â–¶ Facebook Posts

The PTA posts information about upcoming events on our public Facebook page.
