Frequently Asked Questions

About the PTA

What is a PTA?
Our PTA, or Parent Teacher Association, is a network of families, teachers, and administrators at Hunters Woods Elementary. We are devoted to the educational success of our students and the promotion of family engagement at our school. We develop programs and activities to support our children’s educational success, health, and well-being through strong family and community engagement.
Why should I support the PTA?
Joining the PTA doesn’t mean you’re signing your life away as a volunteer—it means you believe in the students, the staff, and the families at Hunters Woods. By becoming a PTA member and contributing to our fundraising campaigns, you are making a difference for every student at Hunters Woods.

Your annual PTA membership dues directly support:
  • Classroom wish lists
  • Teacher appreciation
  • Book fairs
  • Movie nights, skate night, and bingo night
  • After-school enrichment
  • Field trip buses
  • School musical
  • Teacher mini-grants
  • 6th grade artist-in-residence
How does the PTA raise funds?
The Hunters Woods PTA raises funds through membership drives and periodic fundraising events. These include Original Works, the fall book fair, skate night, dining for dollars with local restaurants, and our all-school spirit event each spring.
How does the PTA spend funds?
Prior to each school year, the PTA Executive Committee creates a budget that is voted on by the full PTA membership. The PTA follows the approved budget throughout the year, and any amendments must also be approved by the membership.
